Whether it’s fishing or construction, MnM Hardware & Service Station knows the tools of the trade. Located in both Independence and Placencia Village to serve Southern Belize for almost three decades, the family-owned and operated one-stop shop also knows the value of community and collaboration to get to the finish line—together. Not only is MnM Hardware & Service Station a Platinum Sponsor of the upcoming 13th Blue Water Classic, but the company is also an active corporate citizen in the South.
Operating for 28 years in Independence and 19 years in Placencia, the hardware store has equally expanded over the years. In addition to a complete line of hardware and construction materials, one can find furniture, home décor, and even appliances inside. And of course, there is a fishing aisle, home to the best selection of fishing supplies including cast nets, fishing lines, fish scrapers, fishing wires, fish lures, fiberglass hook sticks, and even latex-coated gloves.
Community Comes First

After all, the Dunckers know their 75-staff-strong company today didn’t reach success without the help of its fantastic staff and of course, a loyal customer base. Additionally, they have strived to help and support local community efforts and country-wide. Just recently, MnM Hardware & Service Station partially sponsored the 2022 Marelco Yamaha Saltwater Fishing Tournament and entertainment in the Placencia Lobsterfest 2022, aside from contributing materials to the rehabilitation and repair of the Placencia Cemetery and committing to the End of the World Marathon held annually in Placencia.

Besides having a comprehensive hardware store—from 30-foot class Salt Water treated poles for a waterfront project to gas-fired grills for redoing your patio—MnM is also a resource to Independence and Placencia Village with its UNO service stations located at each site. This allows you to fill up your gas or diesel, and grab lubricants, snacks, and ice among other vehicle-related items while checking the oil level in your engine.
“We [our family] are fishermen and fisherwomen too, so we know the value of quality fuel that makes you go further. The Placencia service station is a plus, as it is on the lagoon side and makes getting out onto the water that much easier, for a great day or weekend ahead,” says Allan Duncker, Managing Owner.

Besides being sponsors and long-time supporters, the entire Duncker family of MnM are also active members of the Belize Game Fish Association! MnM Hardware & Service Station Managing Owner Allan Duncker captains, often alongside wife Dora, while son Nathan and daughter Hannah take turns in the fighting chair after growing up in the sport. In 2019, the Duncker family team Stir It Up even took home first place and the trophy at the 9th Annual Blue Water Classic, hosted at Blue Marlin Beach Resort on South Water Caye. Impressively, Stir It Up brought three Blue Marlins boatside (3-5) in the 9th BWC—that’s no easy feat (or stroke of luck) here in Belize.

“We ultimately want to support the sport of fishing in Belize, including sustainable practices. That includes BGFA’s catch-and-release tournament policy and other advocacy opportunities. We’re also involved with other local non-profits centered around marine conservation, like Toledo Institute for Development and Environment and Southern Environmental Association in addition to Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute-Belize which works to safeguard our endangered Manatees of Belize,” says Nathan Duncker, their Marketing Manager. “At the end of the day, we want to give back.”
